He had sworn at a safe distancing enforcement officer at a Boon Lay hawker centre.

What happened

Ng was at Boon Lay Place Food Village on 29 August 2021 at about 1.30pm and he was two of his friends at a table.

Ng then sat at their table to chat with them (only two groups of two were allowed to dine together in hawker centres, with the extra seats being marked on the table).

A 50-year-old NEA officer (the victim) and two other colleagues were performing their duties at that time and spotted Ng with his friends.

The victim’s colleague spotted Ng and approached him, to which Ng said that he knew what he was doing was an offence, and he then stood up.

But he continued to stand close to his friends, and the victim then told him to maintain a safe distance from them.

Ng continued to stand close to them and got angry, asking the victim what he wanted, and the victim then asked him for his IC to take action against him.

Ng then said he didn’t have it and insisted on verbally giving him his particulars.

The victim refused to accept it and Ng then challenged him to call the police, which the victim dic, while Ng swore at him in English and Hokkien.

The victim ignored him and waited for the police to come.
