A diner who patronised a Putien restaurant at Raffles City, had apparently walked face-first into a glass wall that was cleaned so well that it seemed invisible – the diner ended up with a bloody and swollen lip.
The incident happened on 1 May at about 3.45pm, at Putien restaurant outlet at Raffles City, which specialises in Putian dishes from Fujian, China.
Speaking to ZaoBao, the 53-year-old woman, Ms Xu, who slammed face-first into the clear glass wall, said that she was exiting the restaurant when she suddenly bumped into the glass wall.
She added that he couldn’t see the glass wall and wasn’t using her phone at the time, and that her lips were bleeding and half her face was swollen.
The manager of the restaurant then attended to her immediately and advised her to get medical treatment at a clinic beside the restaurant.
However, she didn’t do so because she felt like her injuries were not that serious.
Xu also added that the restaurant offered her a 10% discount, along with several dishes for free, but she expressed concern about children or the elderly potentially bumping into the glass wall as well.
Putien restaurant also spoke to ZaoBao and said that they should’ve installed anti-collision bars in front of the glass walls but because it was during a long holiday, the contractor couldn’t do so in time.
They apologized and added that they usually place a few chairs in front of the glass wall but moved them away on that day as there were many diners.
