The basic salaries of Singapore Airlines (SIA) pilots will be gradually restored two years after the airline commenced pay cuts for their staff members due to the pandemic.

SIA confirmed with CNA on 4 May that a memorandum of agreement was signed with the Air Line Pilots Association Singapore, the pilot’s union; with effect from 1 April.

The additional pay cuts to the basic salaries of the pilots will be progressively reduced over a period of 9 months, from 1 April to 31 December 2022.

The pay cuts that the SIA pilots previously took in September 2020 were a reduction of between 10 to 60%, which is part of an agreement that was aimed at protecting up to 400 jobs.

The pay cut agreement went into effect in October 2020 and expired in March earlier this year.

A spokesperson for SIA said that SIA is grateful for all of its staff, including its pilots, for their sacrifices over the last two years, allowing the company to navigate the challenges passed by the covid 19 pandemic.
