Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Ho Ching will be visiting Johor today (6 May) to receive awards by Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhub Sultan Iskandar.
PM Lee is set to be receiving the “First Class, Grand Commander of the Order, Dato’ Sri Paduka Mahkota Johor (SPMJ – Order of the Crown of Johor)”.
Ho Ching will be receiving the “First Class, Grand Commander of the Order, Dato’ Sri Mulia Sultan Ibrahim Johor (SMIJ – Order of Sultan Ibrahim of Johor)”.
The Prime Minister’s Officer said that the PM Lee’s SPMJ is the highest honour of Johor, while Ho Ching’s SMIJ award makes her the first Singaporean recipient.
Both PM Lee and Ho Ching were invited by Sultan Ibrahim, and the award investiture ceremony is set to be held at the Istana Besar.
An official brunch will then be hosted by Sultan Ibrahim after the ceremony in honour of PM Lee and his wife, with attendance from the Johor royal family, Royal Court and representatives of the Johor state government.
Singapore Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan will also be joining PM Lee and his wife on the trip, along with Minister of Home Affairs and Law, K Shanmugam, and officials from the PMO, MFA. MHA and MCI.
