The shocking incident of a lift technician who was trapped in a lift and later bled to death had new developments, the coroner said that there was no foul play to the incident.
Trapped for 4 hours
The incident happened back on 27 Feb 2021, 29-year-old Hossain Mohammad Sahid, a Bangladeshi national was repairing a lift at Chan Brothers Building located along North Bridge road.
The lift suddenly moved and he was trapped with his arm, leg and body stuck between the wall and the lift. Hossain could be heard shouting after he was injured.
SCDF were on the scene trying to rescue him but due to how he was trapped that was only so much the paramedics could do, they applied medical treatment to the man.
After being trapped for 4 hours the worker bled to his death.
It could have been prevented
According to The Strait Times, The coroner stated that the accident could have been prevented and all work should not be conducted once they discover that the buttons of the lift were faulty.
The control room would not be able to know if there is someone in the lift shaft while repair works were underway.
