The disease is one of the worse things that can happen to you and even more heartbreaking when it happens to your loved ones.
A father posted on thaddybear.com hoping to raise funds for his son’s cancer treatment.
On the crowdfunding website, the page stated a goal of S$1,698,450 and so far over $400,000 has been raised.
Here is a description of the 7-year-old boy’s condition:
Dear Family, Friends and Comrades,
As you might have heard, my younger son, Thaddeus, was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma at the age of 7 last year. Neuroblastoma (NB) is a rare form of childhood cancer that affects less than 10 children in Singapore each year.
Since Thaddeus’s diagnosis, he has received numerous treatments and had undergone surgery. As a family, we stand together with him to combat the illness, and Thaddeus has displayed amazing resilience thus far. We have strong hopes and will not give up.
However, the road to recovery is a long one and involves significant costs. To that end, I have started to raise funds for Thaddeus in preparation for the long-drawn battle.
My brothers-in-arms began spreading the message this morning and the response from the community has been immense. I am very grateful for the encouragement, support and contributions. Yours truly,Brian Anthony Thomas

What is NB?
NB develops in the nerve cells and can spread to other parts of the body including the lymph nodes, bones, bone marrow and soft tissue. High Risk Neuroblastoma is very difficult to treat and requires multimodal treatment that usually lasts more than a year. Children with High Risk Neuroblastoma have to go through chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplant, radiation therapy, immunotherapy and maintenance treatment. The side effects are extensive and rough on the children.
