An 80-year-old Singaporean man, Zhou, lost his wallet that had more than SGD$1,000 and RM600 inside while on a bus in Malaysia.
He was visiting family in Kluang, Johor at the time (27 May).
He was on a bus from Seremban to Kluang when he alighted at the wrong stop, and he dropped his wallet by accident.
According to China Press Johor, a young man who was sitting behind him on the bus at the time had discovered Zhou’s wallet.
He picked it up and contacted the bus company to tell them about his find, trying to return the wallet to the rightful owner.
Inside Zhou’s wallet was a bus ticket with his niece’s phone number and the bus company then called the number to convey the good news.
His niece then went to the bus stop to meet the young man ti get the wallet, and she then arranged to meet the young man again so that her uncle can thank him in person.
The elderly Zhou and the young man then met afterwards and the former offered the latter a red packet, which the young man refused at first but was convinced to keep it, saying that it was to treat him to tea.
