5 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR CAR THEFTS FROM WORKSHOPS, INCLUDING 18 Y.O GIRL

The Singapore Police Force said in a statement on 3 June that 5 people were arrested for their suspected involvement in a series of car thefts from workshops, including a suspect who is 18-years-old.

The police had received reports from 23 May to 31 May that 6 cars were stolen from workshops located around the Kim Chuan Terrace area and Kaki Bukit Road 4.

Cars were unlocked

According to their preliminary investigations, the cars were unlocked and the keys were left inside the vehicles, parked at the workshops.

The identities of 6 people were established by officers from Bedok and Ang Mo Kio Police Division through the use of police and CCTV cameras, as well as ground enquiries.

5 of the suspects between the ages of 18 and 45 were arrested from 1 June to 3 June.

Suspect found with someone else’s IC

One of the quintet of suspects, a 29-year-old man, was allegedly found with an identity card of someone else without lawful authority, and he was arrested for an additional offence under the National Registration Act 1965.

5 of the stolen cars have since been recovered, and the police are still investigating a 42-year-old man, and two women aged 34 and 36.

The 29-year-old man, an 18-year-old girl and a 45-year-old man, were charged in court earlier today with theft of motor vehicle with common intention.
