He had trespassed into the enclosure to film a video for TikTok, before being attacked by the resident ape.

The video was recorded on 6 June 3 days ago, at the Kasang Kulim Zoo in Pekanbaru, Indonesia.

The 19-year-old man, Hasan Arifin, claimed over a barrier and trespassed into the enclosure to film the 15-year-old orangutan inside the cage.

He was seen in the video with his arms stretched out, appearing to ask the ape for a hug, as he approached the cage.

The orangutan appeared to be relaxed at first and didn’t react, but suddenly grabbed his shirt as the man started panicking.

He tried to retreat but the orangutan was too strong and refused to let go of his shirt.

Another man then came from behind to help him by trying to pull him away from the orangutan, and it then grabbed his leg as the man ended up being held sideways against the cage by the animal.

At one point the orangutan was seen trying to bite his foot before letting the TikToker go.
