A 9-year-old girl swallowed 14 magnetic balls that were part of a toy and ended up tearing a hole in her small intestine.
She had to go through a 4-hour emergency surgery to remove the magnetic balls, which were attracted to each other while in different parts of her intestines and tearing a hole through them.
A blockage was formed in her intestines that saw her vomit numerous times, and she was sick for about 2 weeks and lost a huge amount of weight because she couldn’t keep food down.
The magnetic balls were part of a toy that her parents bought for her through Lazada, the Consumer Product Safety Office has since contacted the e-commerce website to remove all related listings on their page, as reported by 8World News.
Before the incident, the toy was advertised by some sellers on Lazada as an educational toy for the development of children.
