A Singaporean man, 56-year-old Mr Yang, was with some friends at a Johor Bahru restaurant when an armed robbery took place, involving 4 masked robbers with knives.
He then saw one of the victims bleeding following the attack and stepped forward to render aid to the stricken man.
One other man was also injured in the armed robbery.
The masked robbers have since been identified by the Malaysian police and are being tracked down at the moment, according to Lianhe Zaobao.
Saw people running from the restaurant
Yang was with his friends, comprising of 4 Malaysians and a Singaporean, at Monet Music Restaurant on 8 June, at Mount Austin, Johor Bahru.
He went out to smoke at about 1.30 pm, and when he went back, he saw people running and fleeing from the restaurant.
Yang then saw an injured man who was robbed, and he told the Chinese paper that the situation at the time was chaotic.
Bone was visible
The injured man was stabbed so deep that his bone was visible, and Yang then brought him out of the restaurant and applied pressure on his wound using napkins.
The victim then told him that his friend was also wounded, as Yang then saw another man having his jacket soaked in blood.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, the robbery victims were workers of V-Time watch, an online store based in Malaysia.
Watch shop staff robbed under pretext of sale
The owner of V-Time had arranged a meeting with a customer at Monet Music Restaurant because he thought it was a safe place, with people around and during the day.
A female and male worker of V-Time showed up at the restaurant with a male bodyguard, and after entering, the robbers broke in via a door at the back.
They slashed the male worker’s arm twice and the bodyguard was stabbed in the back, and they then threatened to chop off his head if he moved.
All three of the workers were ordered to crouch on the floor, as the robbers then took the male worker’s bag that was filled with watches, along with a Rolex watch that he was wearing at the time.
They then fled the scene.
Gold ring and Rolex watches stolen
V-Time shared in a Facebook post that the stolen goods included items such as a gold ring and 3 Rolex watches.
The items that the robbers took amounted to about RM500,000.
The robbers had lied to the restaurant workers that they were preparing a birthday surprise for a friend and asked them to inform them when the V-Time employees entered the establishment.
They also arranged a meet-up with V-Time’s employees at the same time, as well as paid a downpayment of RM5,000 for the meal, to make it seem genuine.
As soon as the robbers were informed by the restaurant staff that the V-Time employees had arrived, they then started their attack.
100 stitches
The male worker received 100 stitches on his arm after being rushed to the hospital after the attack, and also suffered injuries to his nerves.
His condition has since stabilised but he still can’t move his fingers, and he will be needing to undergo rehabilitation.
The South Johor Bahru District Police Headquarters said that the suspects are being tracked down after receiving information, and they described them as being of lean build and wearing black hats, travelling in a silver Toyota.
Investigations are ongoing.
