A viral video began circulating online via WhatsApp, claiming that a dog was eaten alive by a crocodile at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.
The circulating message on WhatsApp said: “Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, crocodile took dog alive on Changi beach. Beware of crocodiles in Singapore waters. More dangerous than sharks.”
However, it has since come to light that the viral video did not take place at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, or even in Singapore.
The original video was taken by a Facebook user, Mad Ali on 11 June.
The incident had happened at Kinabatangan, in Sabah, Malaysia – where a crocodile was being fed a piece of chicken from a kitchen window at a resort.
The crocodile didn’t finish the chicken and left some of it on the beach and swam back into the water, lying in wait.
The village dogs then tried to eat the leftover chickens when the crocodile then attacked them, eating one of the village dogs alive.
