On 8 June, ICA officers at Pasir Panjang Scanning Station noticed anomalies in the scanned images of an inbound container.
The officers proceeded to conduct an unstuffing operation at the importer’s premises and found a used Harley Davidson motorcycle in a consignment declared as a ‘bicycle’.
The case was referred to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
Importers need to ensure accurate declarations of their consignments. Similar methods may be used in attempts to smuggle security-sensitive items into Singapore.
Thus it is essential that ICA continues to uncover and thwart such attempts, to secure our borders.
