A 26-year-old former nurse pleaded guilty to voyeurism and was sentenced to 10 weeks imprisonment on 14 June.
His name and information about his workplace cannot be revealed due to a court order protecting the victim’s identity.
He had planted a spy camera inside a staff toilet to peep at his colleague changing clothes, via video footage streamed from the camera to his phone on three occasions.
He had been fantasizing about his female colleague.
What happened?
The man and the 26-year-old victim were working as staff nurses in the hospital for about 2 years and he grew attracted to her at some point and started having fantasies about her.
He went online in July 2021 to purchase a spy camera that could stream video footage to his mobile phone in real-time.
The following month, he went to the common staff toilet and placed the spy camera on a ceiling light, adjusting it to capture anyone changing or showering.
On 8 August, he waited until he was on the same shift as the victim and installed it before she went into the toilet to change at about 10pm.
He then streamed the video on his phone and watched her take off her clothes for 5 minutes, before removing the camera after she left.
He then planted the camera again on two more occasions to watch her over the next 10 days.
On 18 August, another nurse enter the toilet after the man and found the spy camera which fell onto the floor.
Not knowing what it was, she picked it up and placed it outside, where the other nurses came over to investigate and realised that it was a camera.
It was then handed over to the security officers and the incident was then reported to the police.
