MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY SLASHED COUPLE AT YISHUN, CHARGED IN COURT ON 25 JUNE

Abdul Karim V. Sickander, 58-years-old, was charged in court with two counts of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means.

He was charged in court yesterday morning (25 June) after allegedly attacking a couple with a knife at a HDB building at Yishun.

Karim showed up in court via a video feed while being handcuffed and in remand and was seen wearing a white polo shirt.

He is being accused of attacking Sri Bandiyah and Dhanvan Jeet Singh Minder Singh with a 26cm knife on the evening of 23 June, at Block 510A Yishun Street 51.

The prosecution’s application to remand him at IMH for psychiatric evaluation was granted, and he is expected to return to court on 8 July.

Background

Karim reportedly had a feud with the victims that led to the attack on them, with the trio having been in an argument over the past week.

He also allegedly threatened the couple with a knife on Wednesday and returned on Thursday to allegedly attack them.

A viral video showing the aftermath of the alleged attack made the rounds on social media, showing purported blood trails from the lift lobby to one of the units.

Several police vehicles were also seen parked along the road.
