LTA previously said in a press release on 6 May about the upcoming withdrawal of exemptions for WPHs to keep and use their foreign-registered vehicles in Singapore.

Speaking to 8World News, LTA said that they are hoping the new rules will help with the need for vehicle control, in the wake of the recent heavy traffic into Singapore.

First-time offenders who breach the new ruling with face a fine of up to $1,000 and a jail term of up to 3 months, with repeat offenders facing a fine of up to $2,000 or a jail term of up to 6 months.

WPHs who do not live in Singaproe must also make sure that their foreign-registered vehicles stay outside of Singapore for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
