A video emerged online showing a hit and run accident that happened at a multi-storey carpark at West Gate on 6 July, at about 1.06pm.
The victim’s car was hit by a Volvo exiting the parking lot, and the offending driver then left the scene of the accident.
A voice recording, purportedly of the victim, was played over the video footage that was captured on his dashcam, presumably in conversation with his insurer.
He was heard saying:
“I checked with my workshop ah, he says if he (the hit and run driver) don’t report, his premium will go up. He can still don’t acknowledge that he caused the accident. This is what the workshop says ah.
So that’s why he says the damages cannot be proceeded unless I pay first then wait for the claims, it can be a few years, it can be a few weeks.
The TP says they cannot do anything also, they can only charge him for whatever offences. But he cannot ask him to go and make a report and then ask the insurance to pay me.”
