A Facebook user, Adlina Mazlan, shared how she booked a room for a staycation via booking.com and when she reached the room, it was a nightmare.
Here is what she said
Vacation disaster. Beware when you are booking a staycation in Booking.com especiallly this apartment namely Maxhome @ Vista Residence Genting Highlands.
On 22nd June 2022, we went to Genting to let the kids have some fun in the cold. However the start was such a disappointment.
Imagine having travelled 9 hours from Singapore with so many children, and when you reach your apartment, the state was like this.
We did not even check in early or even on the dot. We reached at 4pm and the apartment wasnt ready at all. If the house is not ready, why cant they tell us courteously to wait downstairs for awhile? Why trouble us to take the keys from the mailbox ourselves and to our horror, we found this apartment cigarettes lying here and there.
The apartment was atrocious and stenched. We tried calling the admin but it actually took 15 minutes for him to revert to us.
Man asked us if we can put our luggage there and wait downstairs while they clean the apartment. Isnt that ridiculous?
Thats not it. They knew we complained to booking.com about them and they decided to play a dirty game.
As we were on our way back to Singapore, they sent us a few photos claiming that we dirtied their bedsheets when their reviews all over in Booking.com are all about their dirty bedsheets.
They told us that they are going to charge rm150 from our deposit to pay for the dirty bedsheet and we had to refrain from putting any negative review about them. After much frustration, we just wanted to get over and done with and agreed.
1 week later, they still refused to refund and the boss of Maxhome threatened us to write a 10 star review in order for us to get back our refund.
This is their modus operandi which is to dissatisfy customer and then accuse customer just so that they do not have to pay back the exorbitant deposit of 400rm.
Fellow singaporeans and malaysians, please beware.
