A video emerged online showing a harrowing incident of littering, with an unknown person throwing a bottle of beverage down from an overhead bridge.
The bottle of beverage then hit a vehicle that was passing under the bridge, and the driver then screamed in shock.
The incident happened on 16 July along Upper Serangoon Road, at about 12.03am.
Potential penalties
Littering is an offence in Singapore and is defined as dropping, placing or throwing any article or thing in a public place except a rubbish bin.
Persons caught littering face a fine of up to $2,000 for the first offence as well as the possibility of Corrective Work Order.
For the act of committing mischief resulting in a loss or damage of $500 or more, under Section 427, persons found guilty face a jail term of up to 2 years, or a fine, or both.
