DRUNK NAVY REGULARS FINED AFTER POSING AS STUDENTS TO GET DONATIONS IN HOUGANG

Previously, videos of two men who were soliciting donations and wearing Singapore Navy’s clothing went viral.

According to AsiaOne, the incident took place after 1 AM at Hougang.

The two-man tried to solicit donations and claimed that they were students, they were later seen smoking along the corridors of the unit.

Mindef has since completed the investigation and posted an update on Facebook.

Here is what the Ministry of Defence said on Facebook:

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has completed its investigations on the incident involving two RSN servicemen allegedly soliciting a donation.

Investigations disclosed that both individuals had done so out of mischief under the influence of alcohol. Both servicemen have expressed remorse over their actions.

The RSN holds our service personnel to high standards of discipline and integrity, and expects them to be law-abiding citizens.

The two servicemen were summarily trialled on 20 Jul 2022, and actions will be taken against them, which include financial penalties.Separately, the Singapore Police Force has looked into the facts and circumstances of the case and will not be taking any further action against the two servicemen.
