My parents don’t let me touch anything in the house when I have my period and I’m so done with it
I’m an Indian and there is a superstition in our religion that women aren’t supposed to touch anything in the house during their period.
When I was young I just thought it didn’t care about it and so it didn’t bother me but as I started getting older I understood how discriminating it is towards woman.
When I asked for a logical explanation my parents tried to justify it saying that the rule was written so as to give women rest and in the past women were expected to do all household work on their own.
So I argued with them that as I was a student and I wasn’t doing any household work why can’t I touch anything in the house.
It caused a heated discussion with my parents telling that periods are considered impure and you can’t touch god at that time(there is a small room where my parent’s do puja in my house).
All of this is just illogical and stupid and I can’t not listen to my parents because I don’t want them to be upset with me.
