The Mount Faber cable car broke down on 27 July, and 18 passengers were left stranded in mid-air as a result, according to Shin Min Daily News.
One of the stranded passengers spokes to SMDN and said that he was trapped in the cable car with his girlfriend for one hour and 15 minutes.
He said that the cable car had stopped all of a sudden at about 9.15pm, and he thought the line had been closed and his carriage had been forgotten.
An announcement was subsequently made to provide clarity on the situation and they were trapped inside the cable car while the issue was being fixed.
The cable car also moved forwards and backwards a few times, and the couple only returned to the station at about 10.30pm.
Another passenger who was trapped inside the cable car with his wife spoke to SMDN and said that it was extremely hot inside the cable car as there was no fan or air-conditioning.
The Singapore Police Force and SCDF were also seen at the scene.
Technical issues
A spokesperson for Mount Faber Leisure Group said that the breaking down of the cable car was caused by technical problems at about 9.14pm.
The technical team then rectified the problem and the line then resumed its operations at about 9.47pm.
They added that the staff remained in contact with the passengers inside the cable cars via intercoms at the time.
They further added that all the 18 passengers who were inside the cable cars at the time eventually disembarked from their carriages safely, with the last one leaving at 10.55pm.
