A woman shared a story about her boyfriend tricking her to use her credit card to make big purchases so that he can earn some “cash back” but it ended up with her having to pay the debt.
Using a credit card is like a loan, while a credit card has a lot of perks it could have some downsides as well.
Here is the story:
I have been together with my boyfriend for 6 months, we often talk about how we are going to get married in the future and settle down.
But as it turns out it was nothing but a fairy tale, in fact, it has become a nightmare.
About 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend said that he was going to purchase a Gucci Bag that was around $1300++.
He told me that he wants to buy it and wants to use my credit card as I am able to get a 2% cash back, he said that it is like getting almost $30 off discount from the purchase and I reluctantly agreed. I normally use my credit card only to pay the bills and discounts for buffets or some restaurants.
So I helped him with the purchase and he received his Gucci bag and he received it in about a week’s time.
We went out for dinner and he told me how happy he was as he had a new bag and said that he will pay me back later that night.
“Later that night” has been two weeks, I called him several times and send him many Whatsapp but he did not respond.
I tried to contact him via Facebook and realised that he has blocked me on all social media platforms including Instagram and Telegram.
I did not know what to do and started confiding in my friends, they told me that he probably hatched the plan a long time ago and had the intention to broke up with me all along. Deep down I knew it but I did not expect him to really break up with me this way.
Now I’m left with paying back the credit card debt and I am thinking of how I can get my money back, I don’t want to make things big as much job is already giving me enough stress and problems.
