The burgers were found by a biosecurity detector dog at the Darwin airport, resulting in the “smuggler” receiving a huge fine.

Minister of Agriculture in Australia, Murray Watt, said that this is the “most expensive McDonald’s meal this passenger ever has”.

Australia is currently on heightened alert after an outbreak of foot and mouth disease is breaking out in Indonesia, with all the Indonesian meat imports being heavily scrutinised.

The disease actually poses no risk to humans but it affects livestock.
