Lawyer and former head of the Reform Party, Charles Yeo, fled Singapore after having criminal charges levelled against him.
He then posted a series of Instagram Stories, challenging the Singapore Police Force to track him down in the United Kingdom.
He is currently in the UK where he is seeking political asylum.
Hide and seek
He has even provided “tips” on his location, offering his information on the gaming platforms Steam and Blizzard as an alternative to the authorities reaching out to his family in Singapore for information about his whereabouts.
Yeo was seen in a series of videos, walking down the streets of London while addressing the police and Attorney-General’s Chambers.
He said that he has switched on his “location sharing” on Instagram, and that the Singapore Police can contact Instagram for his geolocation
He also asked them to contact the gaming platforms Steam and Blizzard for his information, given that he is an active gamer who plays Dota 2 and World of Warcraft.
Criminal charges
The 31-year-old lawyer turned fugitive, is facing a total of 6 criminal charges in Singapore, including:
- One count of uttering words with the deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of another under the Penal Code.
- Two counts of attempting to do the above
- Three counts of threatening or insulting communications towards a public servant under the Protection from Harassment Act.
He was previously arrested in January for allegedly committing criminal breach of trust and forgery, relating to the clients of his law firm.
