I had been communicating with a girl from Bangkok for over a year. I had gotten to know her very well, and I was starting to develop strong feelings for her.
We had talked about me coming to visit her, but I had never been able to make it work.
That is until I decided to take the plunge and actually fly to Bangkok to finally meet her in person. I had saved up for months, and I was finally able to get a cheap flight out there. I was so excited and nervous at the same time—I wasn’t sure what to expect.
When I arrived, I had no idea how to even find her. I had her address, but I had no idea how to get there. I asked around, and eventually, someone told me to take a taxi.
I hopped in one, and after a long drive, I finally arrived at the address.
But there was a problem. When I got there, I found out that she actually worked in a bar in the red light district, Soi Cowboy.
At first, I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it—the girl I had been talking to for so long was working as a ‘pok pok gei’ in one of the seediest places in Bangkok. I was completely devastated. I didn’t know what to do.
After a few minutes of standing there, I finally decided to go in and confront her. I was so angry and hurt, but I knew I had to talk to her. When I went inside, I was amazed at how beautiful she was. She was even more stunning in person than she was in her pictures.
We talked for hours. She told me how she had ended up working at a bar in Soi Cowboy. She said that she had been struggling financially, and that she had to do whatever she could to make ends meet.
I understood where she was coming from, but I was still angry and hurt that she had kept this a secret from me. I told her that I still had strong feelings for her, but I just couldn’t be with someone who was working as a prostitute.
She was heartbroken and started to cry. We hugged and said our goodbyes. I flew back to SG the following day, still not sure what to think.
On one hand, I was devastated that the girl I had been talking to for so long was working in a red light district. But on the other hand, I was still in love with her, and I couldn’t help but think about her all the time.
I eventually moved on, but I will never forget the experience of flying all the way to Bangkok to find the girl I had met online—only to discover that she worked at Soi Cowboy.
