MAN ALLEGEDLY CHOKED WOMAN WITH CORD & ROBBED HER WITH KNIFE @ KOVAN

28-year-old Singaporean, Goh Yu Sheng, allegedly robbed a 55-year-old woman using a knife at Richards Place in Kovan.

He was charged in court yesterday and accused of robbing the victim of items worth about $62,080 on 30 July at about 1.30pm.

Court documents showed that he had allegedly stolen a Rolex watch worth about $5,000, two diamond rings worth about $3,000 and a diamond bracelet worth about $2,000, as well as $2,080 in cash.

Goh also allegedly forced the victim to transfer $50,000 to him.

The Singapore Police Force said that they were alerted to the incident on 30 July at about 8.30pm, and that Goh had allegedly used an electrical cord to choke the victim.

Police officers from Ang Mo Kio, Bedok and Clementi police divisions, as well as officers from the Police Intelligence Department, managed to ascertain his identity and he was then arrested on Friday.

Upon conviction, Goh faces a jail term of between 3 to 14 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
