A 39-year-old man was arrested on 10 August for allegedly burning decorations for Singapore’s National Day along Canberra.
The police were alerted to the incident on 10 August at about 1.30pm, and they were informed that a man was setting fire to the National Day decorations that were placed along Block 115A Cabnberra Walk.
The Singapore Police Force said in a news release that the man was arrested within 6 hours of the report being lodged, through the use of police cameras and ground enquiries.
They added that they have zero tolerance for people who deliberately damage property and will deal with them severely in accordance with the law.
The man is set to be charged in court today (12 August) with mischief by fire, and upon conviction, he faces a jail term of up to 7 years and a fine.
