CYCLISTS BEATS RED LIGHT, THEN REFUSES TO GIVE WAY TO PEDESTRIAN @ ZEBRA CROSSING

A video emerged online showing a group of errant cyclists blatantly beating a red light while riding on the roads, as well as refusing to give way to a pedestrian at a zebra crossing.

They were seen cycling past a traffic light that had turned red, while another vehicle was seen patiently waiting and following the traffic rules.

They were then seen charging through the zebra crossing as the pedestrian had to wait for the group to finish cycling past him.

The incident happened on 3 September at about 7.55am, along Sentul Crescent and near Punggol Safra, and the incident was captured on the dashcam of a nearby vehicle.

Potential penalties

Under the Active Mobility Act (AMA), for cyclists failing to conform to traffic light signals, or ride without due regard for the safety of others, may be liable for an offence.

First-time offenders may be fined up to S$1,000, imprisoned up to three months, or both.

Repeat offenders may be fined up to S$2,000, imprisoned up to six months, or both in Singapore.
