She lives at Block 454 Sin Ming Avenue, and had to tolerate the sounds of the wild chickens clucking all day and all night, affecting the residents’ sleep.

Xu added that even closing the doors and windows of her home proved useless, as the noise was still coming in and affecting their rest.

Her husband and daughter often don’t get enough sleep and they have to wake up early for work, and she needed to do something.

So she spent $6,900 on renovations to soundproof the two bedrooms in her home.

Population control

The authorities previously set up a task force back in March, comprising of the residents and representatives from NParks to control the population of the chickens at Sin Ming.

NParks conducted an investigation back in May and found that there were about 69 wild chickens in the neighbourhood.

The public has also been urged not to feed the chickens to avoid them overpopulating the area, and signs have also been put up in the vicinity.
