33-year-old Mohd S. Muhibullah Said Abdullah, pleaded guilty on 30 September to 3 counts of voluntarily causing hurt.
He had reportedly heard voices inside his head calling him a transvestite, and he then got agitated and slashed a passer-by with a razor blade.
A mandatory treatment order suitability report for Muhibullah has been called by District Judge Ow Yong Tuck Leong.
What happened?
Muhibullah worked as a packer and was at work in Joo Koon on 14 March when he started hearing voices in his head and got agitated before his supervisor then asked him to go home, according to The Straits Times.
He then heard the voices again when he went to the HDB blocks along Strathmore Avenue, which is near his home.
Thinking that he was being insulted by passers-by, Muhibullah took out a razor blade from his card-holder and confronted strangers who were passing him by, thinking that they had insulted him.
36-year-old John Ryan Baguistan Jimenez and his wife were on their way home when they encountered Muhibullah at the void deck of Block 59 Strathmore Avenue.
The latter had walked past the couple, before suddenly turning back and slashing the left side of Jimenez’s neck.
The victim’s wife called for help and her husband was then sent to Singapore General Hospital.
Police officers then arrived at the scene after numerous calls from passers-by, and they commenced a search for the assailant, as well as seizing the razor blade and arrested Muhibullah.
The victim, Jimenez, suffered a laceration on the left side of his neck which measured 8.5cm.
In a separate incident, Muhibullah attacked a staff member at Sengkang General Hospital – he was warded for low blood pressure when he then kicked a physiotherapist on the forearm.
He also kicked out at an auxiliary police officer at the hospital.
He is scheduled to return to court on 14 October to be sentenced.
