The Mr Midnight book series by author James Lee, a staple of many Singaporeans’ childhood, is set to have a Netflix adaptation on 24 October.
Local actress Chen Yixin will be one of the four lead actors/actresses, playing a girl named Ling; Chen said that she went through an audition not knowing it was for a Netflix tv series.
Among the other cast include local actors Lim Yu-Beng and Firdaus Rahman, Malaysian actor Idan Aedan, Australian actors Caleb Monk and Nikki Dekker.
The Netflix series tells the story of 4 teenagers becoming paranormal detectives who share their adventures on a blog named Mr Midnight.
It is set to be released on Netflix on 24 October, and it was developed with Beach House Pictures, with the filming taking place in Batam and Singapore in the midst of the pandemic.
The Mr Midnight book series sold more than 3 million copies in its heyday and has more than 128 books.
