72-year-old Huang Tie Han, the director of Teo Ann Huay Kuan, a Chinese clan association in Singapore, died after the car that he was in was overturned during an accident at Tanglin, trapping him, another fellow passenger and the driver inside.
The accident took place on 1 November at about 7.26pm, along Nassim Road heading towards Tanglin Road, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The driver of the car, 86-year-old Huang Xi Hai, who was the chairman of the Teo Ann Huay Kuan as well as the founder of Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh, was driving Huang Tie Han and the 75-year-old deputy treasurer of the association, Jing Zhi Long, to an Orchard hotel.
They were preparing for an anniversary dinner that their association was hosting on 12 November.
Tie Han was seated in the front passenger seat and Jing was at the back of the car when it skidded and overturned, with all three of them being trapped inside.
They were later rescued by SCDF personnel using hydraulic tools before being conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
All of the occupants were conscious when being conveyed to the hospital but Tie Han slipped into a coma, before dying at the hospital.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed the accident and said that the car may have skidded on its own, and at the time of writing, police investigations are still ongoing.
