5 hours before his shift started he was drinking and continued to drink vodka while transporting commuters on an SBS Transit bus.
This resulted in former bus captain Nagibullah Raja Saleem to bobbed off while driving, swerved into approaching traffic and almost colliding into numerous automobiles, distressing commuters who were on the bus.
The 27-year-old Singaporean was so tipsy that his liquor level was evaluated to be 2.4 times the permitted boundary more than four hours after he ended his work.
On 7/6/ Nagibullah pleaded guilty to one count of driving in a reckless manner, one count of drunk driving, and one count of using a mobile communication device while the bus was still moving.
A fourth charge of leaving the bus in a location possible to cause hazard, hindrance or undue inconvenience will be applied to be withdrawn following Nagibullah’s sentencing.
The court heard that from 10am to 3pm on 29 June last year, Nagibullah had taken alcohol beforehand driving bus service 162 at the start of his shift at 3.30pm.
Nagibullah kept taking swigs from a 330ml bottle of blackcurrant vodka even as he drove the bus,which he had placed on the left side of the driver’s seat.
