Curfew for 16yo? Our kid has finished O-Levels.

She is complaining about her curfew. It’s 11pm, and midnight on occasion.
Does this seem unreasonable? Apparently we are tyrant parents, who make her come home so early. She says all her friends have no curfew, which I find hard to believe.
To me nothing but trouble is waiting after midnight for a teenage girl..
Edit She mostly wants to stay out later so she can listen to live music, and drink. She often goes to bars and clubs. We don’t stop her from drinking, but I know stupid decisions come after drinking.

- How does she come home? Personally I never got a curfew, but even then would naturally come home around midnight latest because my cheapo self refused to miss the last train.
- Explain to the kid why you choose that timing, allow them to hang out with their friends pass that timing if they were to inform you beforehand. This is to build trust between the both of you. Otherwise, they will just hide stuff from you in the future which will be worst
- My parents were strict on curfew and I fully hated it. At 16 it was 7pm. Only during JC it went to around 11+/midnight but that’s because I was out studying (more productive than studying at home). I hated the early curfew. I couldn’t even stay till 8pm to study outside. I was even in the area of my house. Studying. Please don’t make curfew the cause of tension between you and your kid. In my opinion as long as your kid updates you throughout, and replies to your texts promptly, without lying, it’s fine. Equip them with the good sense to not do stupid things.
