Up to 72 patients at the National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) may had not fully sterilized dental instruments used on them.
Through a media statement on 12/6, NDCS is leading a detailed evaluation of the occurrence and the procedures involved.
On 5/6 lapse was discovered said NDCS and exertions were made to call back 72 packs of the affected tools from its specialist outpatient clinics on the second, fourth and sixth floors of the building.
Despite the instruments had going through the first two steps of sterilisation, which involves machine washing and thermal disinfection, the final step of steam sterilisation was not completed.
NDCS said it is reaching out to all 714 patients who visited the clinics on Jun 5 and 6. As despite all the affected instruments were recovered by Jun 6, up to 72 people may have received treatment using the instruments.
