48-year-old Wang Bingshi pleaded guilty to charges that include breaking and entering, and property embezzlement; he was sentenced to 1 year, 6 months and 2 weeks imprisonment.
He found the lost keys to the victim’s home and saw that there was an address on the keychain, and he then went to the flat at the address, according to Shin Min Daily News.
What happened?
The incident happened in Punggol on 6 May earlier this year. The victim lost her bag with her house keys inside, after leaving her home with her husband.
Wang found the bag with the keys in them and saw an address written across the keychain, and he then went to the address where he then saw CCTVs at the entrance.
He removed the cameras to avoid being detected, before using the keys that he found to enter the unit.
Wang then managed to steal $9,796 worth of items from her home within 17 minutes, including 26 pieces of gold, some cash, a tablet, and even the CCTV cameras that he had removed earlier.
Police investigations also revealed that Wawng had robbed a man of his wallet earlier that day, at Punggol Waterfront Square.
