A woman struck 4D but her world then turned upside down after she realised that she had thrown away her winning ticket.
Pearlyn Yap spoke to AsiaOne yesterday (1 December) and said that she had placed a $12 bet at a Singapore Pools outlet in Geylang Serai back in September.
She later realised that her 4D ticket was missing and after looking through her CCTV footage, she saw that she had accidentally thrown it away into the rubbish chute.
Her nightmare then came to fruition after she checked the 4D results and saw that her number of “1234” had won $500.
She said that it was such a rare chance for her to win 4D and she literally threw it away.
Yap initially wanted to just forget about her loss but found it too hard to ignore the fact that she had thrown away $500.
She then called Sembcorp’s customer service the next morning and told them what happened, and three rubbish disposal workers then showed up at her block about an hour later for the search operation.
She shared that two workers stood on both sides of the rubbish truck and picked out the rubbish that had been accumulated from the previous day, as they rummaged through the rubbish under the hot weather for about 30 minutes.
They finally found her 4D ticket, to which Yap said that she really salutes them – describing the situation as being unclean and pungent, with flies flying around.
She then gave each worker $12 for their help.
@pearlyn_yap The story goes : I threw a lottery ticket into the #recyclingchute at the common area of our flat area. That bet slip was for that very night! My fear came true, that was a winning lottery ticket. Such a rare chance to win #4D and I literally threw it away! If it wasn’t for the help of #Sembcorp Industries employees, I would not be able to retrieve my #lotteryticket ♬ èŠæ¯”q了 – 邓家å¿
