BANGLADESHI LANDSCAPE WORKER KILLED AFTER BEING HIT BY TREE TRUNK @ TOA PAYOH

A 28-year-old Bangladeshi worker died after being hit by a tree trunk at Toa Payoh while carrying out lifting operations, according to The Straits Times.

He was hoisting a tree trunk onto a truck when it got dislodged and hit him, resulting in the worker hitting his head against the pavement.

He was conveyed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries and died.

The incident happened on 7 December at Toa Payoh East Road, near 1003 Toa Payoh Industrial park at about 3.30pm.

The landscaping worker, who was employed by Penta Landscape was loading tree trunks at the time onto a truck during pruning and was carrying out lifting operations using a lorry crane.

One of the tree trunks then got dislodged and slipped from the lifting sling while being hoisted and hit the worker.

Following the incident, Penta Landscape has been ordered to stop all tree pruning and lifting operations as the Ministry of Manpower investigate the incident.

The worker is the 43rd workplace fatality this year.
