What kind of hair do you like seeing on local guys?
Question
Most Singaporean guys don’t go out of their way to fancy up their hair, and many after NS just stick to the ol’ reliable 2 by 4 for what seems like the rest of their lives. If you just imagined the average Singaporean guy, he would definitely be sporting the NS cut.
Obviously guys love it because it’s more cooling and they don’t have to maintain it, but it was a surprise to me to find out a good number of my girl friends also like the NS cut, some even preferring it to more fashionable styles.
So here’s an open question to anyone. What kind of hair do you think looks good on the local guys here, and are there any particular reasons why?
Feel free to answer as vaguely or as detailed as you’d like, though here’s some ideas:
Specific cuts like Korean middle parts, French crops, or our national men’s cut, the NS 2-by-4?
Something general like short and neat, or long and breezy?
Specific details like yes or no to a fringe, or to short-cut sides?
Wild colors like pink and blue, safer but still out-of-the-ordinary like brown and ash, or safe, reliable black?
Does it matter if it matches their vibe, like their clothes or their personality?
Does all of that stuff change depending on the body/frame/face?

- Depends on your face. If your face cui, leave long hair. If face good, bald also can
- Problem is when come reservist, have to cut hair to ns standards anyway haha..
- Guys should have hairstyles that suit their face and their hair type
One of my pet peeves is centre parting on guys. It looks better on 1) longer faces and 2) wavy/curly hair. It trending now means I see so many guys failing to pull it off as they don’t fit the criteria above… - It’s all about your face, and by extension, your weight. Sure, a good cut can make the average joe look much better, but if you were born ugly, no matter how you perm or style your hair to look like a korean oppa, you’re still going to look bad.
Alternatively, a guy that is objectively handsome can wake up with any bird nest hair and still look decent. - Uncle Raymond
