A man posted on Facebook after his elderly mother who was not well versed in technology got scammed into paying $2385 for a bed frame on Lazada.
Even though the item was listed for $1885, the woman paid $2385 for it.
Here is the complaint:
My elderly 65 year old mother was just scammed by a furniture store called Pro One project (with Grado SG as their Lazada store front).
They, knowing that my mother was elderly and not technologically savvy, overcharged her $500 for a bed she ordered in late December 2022. She ended up paying $2385 when they were selling it for $1885 on their Lazada storefront. Not to mention, they did not even install the furniture properly. There were multiple unfixed defects on the furniture.
When confronted, the sales on Whatsapp first lied to me that $1,885 for their Lazada storefront was only for CNY Promotion.
Afterwards, I checked with the other representative from Lazada and they said $1885 is the fixed price and even before CNY (before my mother ordered), it was $2085.
I exposed the inconsistencies and lies to the sales on Whatsapp, and they had the audacity to lie that they were different companies (when previously the sales on Whatsapp was answering questions on behalf of the Lazada storefront with regards to pricing, quality, materials etc.).
After being exposed again, the sales on Whatsapp further lied that we did not order from them at all (despite me showing the receipt in their face).
The phone number on the receipt was matching the phone number of the sales on Whatsapp. It was evident that this fellow is blatantly lying and gaslighting us to disclaim all responsibility. Trying all kinds of lies, even an absurd lie that we did not buy from them.
They then proceeded to block us.
This was evidently a scam – instead of properly communicating with us, gave us layers of inconsistent lies and completely blocked us, leaving us with defective furniture.
