A 20-year-old student in India fell to his death in a freak accident last Thursday, dying on the spot after falling from the 6th-floor balcony of his hostel in Kota, India.
The deceased, Ishanshu Bhattacharya, came to Kota from West Bengal last August for the medical entrance exam.
He was seen in CCTV images chatting with three of his friends on the balcony before they went back into the room with their shoes on.
The victim then walked to the edge of the balcony to put on his slipper, while notably leaning against the safety mesh of the balcony.
However, the safety mesh gave way and he then fell through the opening on the mesh after he had lost his balance.
He fell 6-floors and died on the spot after landing on the ground.
A police officer, Amar Singh, said that the aluminium mesh was not able to support the deceased’s weight and broke.
Bhattacharya’s body was then sent to the mortuary for a post-mortem that will be conducted after the arrival of his family members.
