A netizen shared how she bought a carton of eggs from a minimart in Yishun and found it to be infested with maggots crawling all over the eggs.
The Facebook user, NiqNiqqi Akeel KenzySarah, posted a video of the rotten eggs that she bought, saying: “Bought this eggs from Sri minimart shop at blk 431 Yishun. Didnt realise the maggots on the eggs when i paid for it until i get home.“
In the video that the netizen posted, a bunch of small white-yellowish maggots could be seen crowding all over the eggshells.
One of the eggs had the most number of maggots on it, with the netizen adding that there was a pungent smell emanating from one of the badly rotten eggs.
The minimart that the netizen had bought the eggs from, Sri Minimart, said that this was the first time something like this has happened.
They said that they order eggs once a week from their suppliers and always check the rack to see if there is anything spoiled, and they’ll throw away the spoiled eggs.
Following the incident, the minimart has since double-checked their items and feedback to their suppliers, as well as offering a full refund to the customer.
They said that they have a good relationship with their suppliers and if there is anything broken or spoiled, they will inform their suppliers immediately and have the items exchanged.
Sri Minimart also added that they will be increasing the number of times they check their goods and that they will check each and every tray before they put it in the rack.
