GIRL LETS BF SIGN PHONE LINE IN HER NAME, UNTIL THE BILL $1,000 PLUS THEN BREAKS UP

I let my boyfriend when I was 19 take out a cell phone in my name. After a terrible break up I got a phone call about the almost $1k bill he rang up calling Adult lines and allowing his mom to make international calls. When I called him about it he basically told me to eff off. Valuable lesson learned — do not let people take anything out in your name, you’re stuck paying for it no matter how unfair it is.

I was 19 and in love for the first time. I had been dating my boyfriend for about a year, and he wanted to get an iPhone. He had been unable to get his own phone due to his bad history with Singtel, so I decided to let him take out a phone in my name. It was a decision that I came to regret.

Fast forward a few years and we had broken up. I had completely forgotten about the phone and had moved on with my life. Then, one day, I got a phone call from a collections agency. They informed me that my boyfriend had run up an almost $1,000 bill on the phone. Apparently, he had been calling Adult lines and had also allowed his mother to make international calls.

When I called him about it, he basically told me to eff off. He was unapologetic and unrepentant. He said that he had paid for the phone and that it was none of my business what he did with it.

I was furious, but there was nothing I could do except pay the bill. It felt so unfair, but I had learned a valuable lesson: never let people take out anything in your name, because you’ll be the one stuck paying for it.

It took me a long time to pay off the bill, and it left a lasting impression on me. I learned to be very careful about who I allowed to take out things in my name. I also learned that I had to be even more careful if I was in a relationship.

It was an unfortunate experience, but it taught me to be more responsible with my finances.

It’s been over a decade since that happened and I’m still wary of letting anyone take out anything in my name. I’ve learned to be more assertive and to speak up if I’m feeling uncomfortable about a situation. I’ve also learned that sometimes it’s better to say no than to get into a situation you can’t get out of.
