Came home real late last night coz return flight from Seoul got delayed. Arrived home finding that a black Honda had collided into our rear gate. Driver unconscious. We called ambulance and police and he’s ok. Was sent to hospital. But our gate is not. So was advised to go make a police report. Ruien tags along…

Ruien: what’s that report for papa?
Me: well.. the man isn’t in trouble but we need this police report to claim insurance.
Ruien: what’s insurance?
Me: *i dunno how to explain this to a child
Well… it’s paying a small sum of money to someone every month in case something bad happens. And if the bad things happen then the person returns us a big sum of money. But if nothing happens we just keep paying…
Ruien: so why do you need to see the police?
Me: so that the police can prove that it really happened.

She’s silent for a pretty long time.
Then suddenly stops and says
“Wait here…”
And she runs back into the police station.
I wait outside wondering what she’s up to now.
I wait 5 whole minutes… and then I walk in.
What on earth is this girl up to?

So she’s sitting there talking to the police officer
Ruien:”But I really did do badly… write it down please”
Police: “Sir, is this your daughter?”
Me: “I’m so sorry. Yes it is”
Police: “she says she needs a police report for her chinese test.”
Me: “huh why?”
Ruien:”coz WE’RE gonna buy insurance for my PSLE!!!
I’ll do badly… and WE GET RICH!!
So Mr policeman… you gonna help us?
I’ll split half with you”
