My friend constantly compares her being a dog owner to me being a mom
I 23F am sick of my friend 24F constantly comparing her being a dog owner to me being a mother.
She always gets sour when I can’t hangout, I am a mom, I have a child at home to take care of, I don’t want to go out every weekend.
I don’t get out much, and I appreciate her asking me to hangout, because a lot of my friends don’t anymore.
But when I can’t do things like hangout, or stay late when I do hangout, I always tell her it’s because I have my daughter and I need to be home with her. I am a mom.
She ALWAYS says, “well I am a mom too!!” and acts like she understands. But clearly doesn’t because she doesn’t have a child. A living human being.
I am a dog person, I love dogs, I grew up with dogs. The only reason why I don’t have one right now is because I don’t have the time and it wouldn’t be fair to the dog.
But it really bothers me, and is kind of insulting to me, when she acts like her being a dog mom, and me being a mother, is the same thing.
I swear every time I bring up being a mom she says “well I’m a mom too!!!!”. And before anyone asks, she is not saying it to try and relate, she is saying it like “Well I’m a mom too and i have time to do all these things like party with my friends every weekend and drink”.
She also gets insulted when I don’t call her a mom too, or if I don’t act like she’s a mother too. Of course, she’s a dog mom, but it’s just not the same. I don’t know. I may be in the wrong here. But it just really bothers me.
I am not the best at getting my words out or writing. So I apologize if this post is all over the place.
