CAROUSELL SELLER LEFT CHARGER IN JACKET SOLD TO BUYER, WHO REFUSED TO RETURN UNTIL POLICE INVOLVED

A carousell seller shared how she had listed a blazer worth $100 for sale for $30, and a buyer then contacted her and bargained the price down to $25.

Both parties agreed to the sale on 13 April and the netizen then met up with the buyer to pass her the jacket inside a paper bag.

However, she had accidentally left her iPad Air charger and two wires for an iPhone 14 inside the bag that she passed to the buyer because she was in a rush.

The seller then messaged the buyer to ask for her charger and wires back but the woman then claimed that she had already given the bag to her cousin, who was flying back to Brisbane.

The netizen felt odd because the buyer had been free to receive the item the day after, with the seller telling the buyer “so fast to your cousin already?”

The seller had a friend who was going to Brisbane in May and told the buyer to return it through the friend, however, the buyer then stopped replying to her messages despite the netizen following up with more messages.

The messages were already also read by the buyer, who then went on to delete her own listings on Carousell.

The netizen couldn’t reach out to the buyer any further because she only had the name of the account that she used to transfer her money, and she then posted about the incident on TikTok.

Another TikTok user saw her post and managed to find the buyer’s phone number by combing through property rental websites.

The netizen then sent the buyer a text message threatening to lodge a police report if she still refused to return her charger and wires back, citing police cameras at the MRT station where they had the transaction.

The message was read by the buyer, who still didn’t reply, and the netizen then went ahead and lodged a police report against the woman.

Within 5 hours of her police report being lodged, she received a text message from a police investigation officer who told her to head down to the police station to collect her item.

Apparently the police had reached out to the woman, who cooperated with them and returned the seller’s charger to the police station.

The seller then commended the Singapore Police Force for being efficient, solving her problem within 5 hours.
