A huge fight previously broke out in August 2022 involving an elderly couple and another elderly woman over seats at a getai performance, and the misbehaving elderly trio were each fined $1,000 on Friday (21 April).
The trio, 70-year-old Neo Kway Chuan, his 66-year-old wife Long Kai Buay, and 71-year-old Ong Geok Sang, were each fined $1,000 after pleading guilty to 1 count of affray for fighting in public.
They were at a getai performance along Arumugam Road on 10 August last year at about 5.30pm, and Ong (the short-haired woman seen in the video clip) had placed some paper slips on a few chairs to “chope” the seats for her friends.
Neo then removed the slips of paper as he and his wife and sat down on two of the chairs, prompting Ong to confront him and they got into an argument.
Neo told the woman that she shouldn’t be hogging seats, but she scolded the couple for taking the seats that she had hoped.
A fight soon broke out with Ong and Neo picking up chairs to attack each other, Ong then threw a chair at Neo’s wife Long but she missed, and the two women then fought it out.
The couple then started throwing punches at Ong and the other attendees and staff members at the getai show then stepped in to break up the fight.
Ong then called the police at about 6pm saying she was assaulted, and all three of them were arrested.

Auntie’s side of the story
The short-haired auntie who was seen in a viral video throwing a chair at another woman before getting socked in the face repeatedly by another man, has since come forward with her side of the story.
The fight happened at a Getai at Lor Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple Association, located at 15 Arumugam Road, on 10 August.
The short-haired auntie told media outlets that she reserved a seat for her friend at the Getai, but the couple in the video then arrived and threw away a cup of coffee and bun that was left on the seat, before sitting down.
She added that she received 2 stitches on her face and is adamant that she has done nothing wrong.
However, several netizens who purportedly know her said that she regularly chopes seats when she’s not supposed to.
