Did you know that there is a bus service in Singapore that operates only 7 days a year, and only young male bus drivers are allowed to drive that bus for safety reasons, according to 8world News.
SBS bus service 405 only takes commuters to cemeteries and columbariums and it only operates on 7 days per year, namely on the Qing Ming Festival, Good Friday, All Souls Day, the first day of Ramadan, Hari Raya Puasa, Hari Raya Haji and Deepavali.
It plies the route from the Boon Lay Interchange towards Choa Chu Kang and Lim Chu Kang, and the members of the public can take the bus to visit their deceased loved ones during the abovementioned holidays.
Pre-registered members of the public had the opportunity to take the bus as part of the Singapore HeritageFest in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of SBS Transit.
Due to the remote nature of the route that the bus plies, SBS Transit stipulates that only young male bus captains are allowed to drive that particular bus service for safety, and it only operates during the day.
The first bus 405 leaves from the Boon Lay Bus Interchange at about 7am, while the last bus departs at 5pm, and it goes from Jurong West towards Jalan Bahar, then towards the Old Choa Chu Kang Road before heading towards Lim Chu Kang Road where the cemeteries are, before turning back.
Among the stops covered along the route at the Jalan Bahar Power Station, the Civil Defence Academy and the Nirvana Memorial Garden, and some of the bus stops along the way were purportedly built just for this special bus service.
Netizens have shared that on certain nights, commuters can see NSFs and/or NSMen during their training in the training areas nearby.
And speculation is also rife about the bus being an unofficial carrier for “invisible” passengers.
