My girlfriend is TikTok famous and I hate it
So for a bit of context me and my girlfriend have been together almost 7 years.
She was never super obsessed with social media or anything like that, hardly posted, kept herself to herself and all that. Then she started to get hooked on TikTok, at first she didn’t post she would just watch it for hours and hours but eventually ended up making a an account and posted quite a lot.
She never liked the idea of working for some corpo company making someone else richer, she always wanted to be self employed and I applauded that.
Anyway, one day she’d posted a video and it was BLOWING up and this is truly when she became obsessed. She started to tell me “this is it, this is what I’m gonna do.” I supported her unconditionally and told her that if the bills are paid I couldn’t give a fuck what she did.
At the time of writing this post her followers are sitting in the millions, I don’t know how many people are gonna read this but I don’t wanna say exactly because I don’t want anyone to find out who she actually is.
A few problems are starting to arise, she earns good money I can’t fault her for that, she actually earns more than me and I’m by no means an average earner.
For one, her health is starting to take a hit, she never eats properly, doesn’t sleep and all that. She is OBSESSED with numbers, if a TikTok or instagram post performs badly then she will be in a foul mood.
It truly seems like the only hit of dopamine she can get is from her posts doing well, she’s slowly turning into someone I do not know anymore and it’s killing me.
I’m lucky if I get half an hour a day where we have a normal conversation that doesn’t regard her career.
When we have arguments she also starts to call me working class scum and saying that I work for “literal pennies”. I just wish that she would be humble and more down to earth, this girl is not the person I fell in love with.
